Our story

A MAN, A VISION, A NEW MODEL

Yves Rocher

Everything started with a visionary idea. It all began with a self-taught man who understood at an early stage that plants have developed uniquely powerful biological mechanisms with unequalled power to take care of our skin. In 1959, he took a cornerstone decision that went against the standards of his time, to create cosmetics that combine plant biology with modern dermatology.
Yves Rocher did not simply create a brand, he invented a new model.

A pioneer from the very first formula

His first innovation marked a turning point. With it, he revealed the dermatological properties of the Lesser Celandine, a forgotten medicinal plant, turning it into effective botanical skincare. Initially created for the women in his circle, this skincare product created a new path: beauty products based on the intelligence of plants that care for the skin with proven effectiveness and are profoundly accessible. This vision still guides all our cosmetic innovations today.

DERMO-BOTANICAL BEAUTY

Skin statistics

Yves Rocher was a visionary who, from the very beginning, surrounded himself with leading experts in dermatology. He established CERCO, the Center for Study and Cosmetic Research, and supported fundamental research in skin physiology, turning his vision into a true scientific discipline.

This is how dermo-botanical beauty was born: an unprecedented scientific approach that combines plant knowledge with skin expertise to create effective, safe skincare that is gentle to the skin.

A flower and a woman

A man committed to the beauty of women and respect for the living world

In his village of La Gacilly, Yves Rocher anchored his vision in a local and sustainable adventure.
He set up his laboratories there and cultivated plants applying agricultural practices that were more respectful of the living world, soils and ecosystems. Very early on, through his Green Book of Beauty catalogue, he advocated for a different kind of relationship with knowledge. He created an accessible guide to share with women the natural properties of plants to take care of their skin.

This is a vision that still drives us today: sharing knowledge about plants and making it accessible to empower every woman to take action and care for herself through nature.
